About the Project

2021

In 2021, an old friend from college reached out letting me know she’s starting her own therapy business. Amazing! She asked if I’d be willing to help her create a simple website with only one request; there has to be trees. And lots of them. She explained that nature -- trees especially -- seem to promote a sense of tranquility in her patients, and wanted to promote that same experience with her website.

This was a freelance project I took on and acted as a Project Manager and UI Designer. I had loads of fun creating some graphics for this project to really play into the tree theme. You may notice some cascading leaves down the page and a silhouette of a forest in the footer.

Visual Design

The wireframing process was skipped for this project due to the simplicity of the site as well as the need for the site to be launched as soon as possible. Because of that, I ensured that we were all on the same page as I went forward with the visual design process.

We agreed to a few pages for the website: a home page, about us, and contact page that included a simple "Contact Us" button for inquiries. To create a bit more visual interest, I created some graphics of leaves cascading down the page that supported both the theme of the site and the primary color. I also created a graphic of a forest to use as the footer.

I didn't do any of the development work for this project, but I referred this to one of my coworkers and good friends. Throughout the development phase, I ensured the designs were followed closely and also confirmed that this website was set up in a way where the client could make any future updates themselves. A CMS was set up for them to make certain they could update any content on their own, as well as some more involved updates. For example, if they wanted to swap out or remove an image, add or remove staff members, or remove a section, I wanted them to be able to do all of that without any issue or frustrations.
